This is general information, not an individual diagnosis or treatment plan. Outcomes vary between people.
Semen analysis is a starting point
Count, movement and shape are interpreted with collection conditions and medical history. Repeat analysis or urology assessment may be appropriate. Recent fever, surgery and medication are relevant. A single result cannot definitively rule out natural pregnancy or guarantee it.
ICSI and micro-TESE are different
ICSI introduces a selected sperm into an egg; fertilisation and pregnancy remain uncertain. Micro-TESE searches testicular tissue for sperm in selected azoospermia cases. Retrieval is not always successful. Hormones, examination and sometimes genetic investigations inform counselling; no single marker makes the surgical outcome certain.
Microfluidics and advanced testing
Microfluidic systems and high-magnification selection aim to help choose sperm. Improvement in a laboratory measure must be distinguished from improvement in live birth. DNA-fragmentation testing and additional selection techniques are not routine requirements for everyone. Ask whether the test would actually change the treatment plan.
Make decisions together
A male factor is not a matter of blame. Reviewing both partners’ reports together can reduce unnecessary repetition.
