1. Confirm the finding and investigate the cause
Semen results are confirmed and a urology/andrology assessment distinguishes obstruction from impaired production. Hormonal, genetic and other investigations are selected as needed. The female partner’s reproductive assessment is carried out alongside this.
2. Understand the options and each team member’s role
The urologist assesses male diagnosis and surgery. Embryologists examine retrieved material, while the IVF specialist plans the couple’s fertility treatment. Depending on the cause, selected medical treatment, reconstruction or sperm retrieval may represent different pathways.
3. Plan timing and possible outcomes
Ask how sperm retrieval and egg collection would be coordinated, whether freezing may be possible and what happens if no sperm are found. Clarify what each investigation and procedure costs. A meaningful overall estimate requires an individual treatment plan.
4. Prepare for your first discussion
Gather semen analyses, hormonal and genetic reports, earlier surgical and pathology records and your medication list. You can request a consultation with Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çolakoğlu at the Konya practice or A Life Hospital – Etimesgut in Ankara. The team will confirm hospital arrangements and proposed procedures separately.
